easyHotel has revealed its first-ever afternoon tea, swapping cucumber sandwiches and scones for sausage rolls, Party Rings and a proper mug of builders’ tea.
Created to celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week (10-16 August), the playful take on the British tradition will be served completely free at easyHotel London Shoreditch.
The launch comes as afternoon tea at some of London’s best-known hotels now regularly costs upwards of £75 per person, with champagne and other additions pushing the price even higher*.
easyHotel has instead filled its first afternoon tea with familiar favourites, including mini sausage rolls, with a vegetarian option available, Jammie Dodgers, custard creams, Party Rings and Jaffa Cakes.
The complimentary spread gives guests and visitors a great-value way to enjoy the occasion, while giving one of Britain’s best-loved traditions a distinctly easyHotel makeover.
Nathan White, UK operations director at easyHotel, said: “Afternoon tea is a brilliant British tradition, but in some places it has become increasingly elaborate and incredibly expensive.
“We wanted to give it the easyHotel treatment by swapping some of the usual ingredients for the snacks people know and love.
“There are no tiny sandwiches or complicated tea menus. Just a proper brew, a sausage roll and some of Britain’s favourite biscuits, completely free.”
The complimentary afternoon tea will be served at easyHotel London Shoreditch from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 August, between 12pm and 3pm.
A maximum of ten sets will be available across the week on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability.
No advance reservations are required. Visitors simply need to walk into the hotel and ask for the afternoon tea.
