IHG Hotels & Resorts is to bring its flagship InterContinental brand to Goregaon, one of Mumbai’s fastest-growing commercial corridors, after signing a management agreement with Zon Hotels (Mumbai) Private Limited for a 350-room luxury property scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2030.

InterContinental Mumbai Goregaon will sit between Andheri and Malad in the city’s western suburbs, an area that has quietly become one of Mumbai’s busiest business districts thanks to a cluster of corporate parks, media campuses and exhibition venues. For business travellers, the location promises something the city’s established luxury hotels cannot: proximity to where an increasing share of Mumbai’s corporate activity actually happens.

The hotel will offer 350 rooms, including 70 suites, alongside five dining venues spanning an all-day restaurant, specialty restaurants, a bar and a lobby lounge. Crucially for the meetings and events market, the property will house one of the largest ballrooms in the city, supported by multiple versatile event spaces, a significant draw in a market where large-scale conference capacity remains at a premium. A spa, fitness centre, swimming pool and retail spaces complete the offer.

Sudeep Jain, managing director, South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are delighted to partner with Zon Hotels (Mumbai) Private Limited to bring InterContinental Mumbai Goregaon to the city. Mumbai continues to demonstrate strong demand across both business and leisure travel, and Goregaon’s emergence as a growing commercial corridor makes it an ideal location to expand our luxury portfolio.”

The signing, announced by IHG, deepens a relationship between the group and its development partner: Zon Hotels is a joint venture between the SanRaj Group, which already owns the 245-key Holiday Inn Mumbai International Airport, and the DGS Group.

It also lands amid a remarkable run of expansion for IHG in India, following recent signings including the Garner Hotel Jagdalpur, the group’s first property in Chhattisgarh, and its debut in Surat, Gujarat’s diamond city. The timing is no accident: India’s listed hotel operators are expected to add more than 70,000 rooms by 2030 as demand continues to outpace supply across the country’s gateway cities and emerging commercial hubs.

For the InterContinental brand itself, the world’s first international luxury hotel marque, with more than 237 hotels open globally and over 100 in the pipeline, Mumbai Goregaon joins a busy development slate that includes the brand’s first property in Manchester, confirming that IHG sees its luxury flag as a growth engine in established and emerging markets alike.

When it opens in 2030, InterContinental Mumbai Goregaon is expected to become a landmark address in the western suburbs, blending the brand’s hallmarks of refined luxury and personalised service with the local cultural connections that have defined InterContinental since its founding.
