Uber has agreed to acquire premium chauffeur service Blacklane as it accelerates its expansion into higher-margin corporate and luxury travel segments.

The deal marks a strategic move by Uber to diversify beyond its core ride-hailing offering and capture a growing share of demand for pre-booked, high-quality transport services. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed, and the acquisition is expected to complete by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

Uber said executive and premium travel is one of the fastest-growing areas of its business, driven by increasing demand from corporate clients and travellers seeking more reliable, scheduled transport options.

Products such as Uber Reserve, which allows users to pre-book rides, have seen strong growth, prompting the company to invest further in this segment. The recent launch of Uber Elite, a luxury-focused service, underscores its ambition to move upmarket and compete more directly with established premium providers.

The acquisition of Blacklane strengthens this strategy by adding a global chauffeur network and established presence in corporate travel.

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Berlin, Blacklane operates in more than 500 cities across over 60 countries, providing professional chauffeur-driven services to business travellers, hotels and high-end consumers.

The company has built a reputation for reliability and quality, positioning itself as a premium alternative to traditional ride-hailing platforms. Its services are widely used by corporate clients, offering pre-arranged airport transfers, city travel and long-distance journeys.

Blacklane has also been expanding its ecosystem, recently announcing a partnership with CLEAR to integrate identity and security features into its service.

For Uber, the acquisition represents an opportunity to deepen its presence in segments that typically offer higher margins and more predictable demand than on-demand rides.

Corporate travel, in particular, is seen as a key growth area, with businesses increasingly seeking integrated, reliable transport solutions for employees and clients.

By combining its global platform with Blacklane’s premium service offering, Uber aims to create a more comprehensive mobility solution that spans both everyday transport and high-end travel.

The move comes as competition intensifies in the mobility sector, with companies seeking to differentiate through service quality, technology and customer experience.

While Uber has traditionally dominated the mass-market ride-hailing space, the acquisition signals a shift towards capturing value in premium segments, where customer expectations and pricing structures differ significantly.

If completed, the deal would position Uber more strongly in the global market for executive transport, complementing its existing services and expanding its reach among corporate clients.

As the mobility industry continues to evolve, the ability to offer a full spectrum of services, from budget rides to luxury travel, is likely to become increasingly important.

For Uber, the acquisition of Blacklane represents a step towards that goal, reinforcing its ambition to become a comprehensive global mobility platform.
